GENERAL FIRING POLICIES
All work must be ready to be fired upon drop off (completely bone dry greenware and thoroughly cleaned bottoms of glazeware).
We do not fire luster or decal kilns.
We do not stilt work.
We do not fire above cone 6.
We do not allow once firing. All work must be bisque fired before firing with glaze.
All newspaper must be removed from work before dropping off.
Renters are responsible for the costs of repairs and/or replacements if their work damages our equipment. This includes kiln cookies, kiln furniture, and all parts of the kiln itself.
Ceramics is an unpredictable medium and we are not responsible for the results of firings. We do our best to establish a clear understanding of what the needs of each piece are, however it is ultimately each artist’s responsibility to do their own testing and build their own understanding of their materials.

Turnaround Time
In an effort to maximize our energy use, we only fire when the kiln is fully loaded. The delivery time estimate for firings is approximately 2 weeks from the date we recieve the work. Delivery times vary depending on your batch size, our firing schedule, and what other work we have to fire.
We recommend that you factor in these turnaround times when planning your firing schedules. Additional fees may incur for expedited firing services.
2025 Christmas Firing Deadlines
BISQUE/ CONE 06- November 2
GLAZE/ CONE 5- November 30
These deadlines mean that if we receive your work ready to be fired (completely bone dry greenware and thoroughly cleaned bottoms of glazeware) by these dates, we guarantee you they will be fired in time for christmas. We will continue firing past these dates, however if you do not drop off your work by these deadlines, we cannot promise you it will be ready for pickup before christmas.
PACKING YOUR WORK
Use more packing material than you think you may need. Better to have extra padding than not enough.
Linens make great packing material and often provide a better cushion than paper or bubble wrap. It’s also more easily reusable!
Put a paper towel inside and around any handles to help protect these fragile protrusions.
Wrap each item individually. Do not stack plates and bowls together, no matter how tempting it may be.
