Model E28T-3 Easy-Fire Automatic Kiln with Multi-Program Three-Zoned Genesis Touchscreen control mounted in an easy-open, cool-firing, piggyback control panel that is angled for easy viewing of control. Kiln comes with hard ceramic element holders, protected thermocouples, a strong solid-top stand, an easy-lift spring hinge, and solid peephole plugs. 28" diameter by 27" high (10.2 cubic feet). 3" K23 brick. NEMA 6-50 single phase or 15-50 three-phase 6-foot power cord included. There are three thermocouples. No charge for 3-phase versions. C-MET-us listed in the USA & Canada. Cone 10 for all three phase models- see below for single phase.

Note about E28T-3 Easy-Fire Kiln on 1-phase power

The e28T-3 kiln is only rated for Cone 8 when the power supply is 240 volts, 1 phase. It is only rated for Cone 5 when the power supply is 208 volts, 1 phase.

A cone rating should be several cones higher than the cone you plan to fire to. Elements in a kiln that is rated for cone 8 will not last very long when firing to cone 5 or 6, especially with heavy loads.

That said - if you answer yes to any of the following questions, you probably want to go with a more powerful L&L, like the eQ2827-3. This kiln has more power (watts) in the single-phase versions than the e28T-3 and will consistently deliver the power you need to reach up to Cone 10.

  1. Do you fire to Cone 5 or 6 at least twice a month?

  2. Would you fire with more than 3 layers of kiln shelves in this kiln?

  3. Can you get a larger circuit breaker? (80 amp breaker for 240 volts, 1 phase OR 90 amp breaker for 208 volts, 1 phase)

NOTE: If the largest circuit breaker you can have is a 60 amp breaker on 240 volts, 1 phase power, you should either get a smaller L&L- like the e23T-3, or count on changing the elements more often than normal. Another help is to get the Quad element option. With the Quad element option, the elements will last longer but you won't get any more power in the kiln (so you could still get slow firings).

FEATURES

Proprietary Reflective Ceramic Coating
L&L coats the firebrick with a proprietary reflective ceramic coating which penetrates, binds and hardens the surface of the entire interior of the kiln. This will reduce brick dusting, makes the kiln interior more durable and helps improve energy efficiency.

Genesis Touch-screen Controller
The Genesis Touch-screen features Dynamic Zone Control. It is like having three controls in one. The Genesis Touch-screen separately measures temperatures in the bottom, middle and top of the kiln and automatically adjusts the heat output of three separate heating zones even as the kiln is heating up. Kiln temperatures are automatically evened out to within 1/2 cone or better top to bottom. There is no manual intervention with input switches. There are separate thermocouples (heat sensors) and contactors (power controls) for each of the three zones. You have the ability to adjust the "lag" or differential between zones, (anywhere from 5 degrees to 99 degrees).

L&L Ceramic Element Holders
L&L Kiln's patented hard ceramic element holders protect your kiln. The ceramic element holder protects the soft fragile firebrick. Replacing elements repeatedly does not damage the brick. Elements don't sag or fall out of broken grooves. You do not need metal pins to hold elements into broken grooves. Customers often say their L&L kilns look new after 30 years of hard use!

OPTIONAL ADD-ONS

Rolling Kiln Stand
L&L's rolling kiln stand features heavy gauge (14 ga) galvannealed steel construction with multiple bends for extra strength, steel swivel locking casters, integrated vent collection box support, and guide rails for the kiln. Each size is fitted to the kiln. Important special caution plates are riveted to three sides of the stand. The vent collection box is not included but, when you order a Vent-Sure vent system the longer duct is included with the system.

Optional Vent-Sure Control
The vent control allows you to automatically control the operation of the Vent-Sure kiln vent with one of the outputs from the Genesis Touch-screen or Genesis.

Optional Shelf Kit Includes:
Part Number: H-E-K28T/00

Includes: Eight 25-1/2" Half Round Shelves (3/4" thick), Six each of 1/2", 1", 2", 4", 6", & 8" high 1-1/2" Square Ceramic Posts, and One Pair Heat Resistant Gloves

Price: $920.00

Optional Quad Elements
Estimated Lead Time of 10-12 Weeks

The Quad element system provides four wraps of elements in one 9" high section. When we couple this with our superior element holder that transmits heat and the fact that our element outside diameter is almost a full 1/2" - this is the best element on the market in top-loading kilns.

This is a Special Order option, please call for pricing.
